SCROLL UNTIL THE BOTTOM TO DISCOVER HOW A NATIONAL BITCOIN NETWORK WAS CREATED

This is a personal project. We are two guys and we wanted to disrupt an industry.

Product Design

We created a way to withdraw cash from Bitcoin in more than 11,000 ATMs all around Mexico. So the main challenge was to design an interface better than the one's many huge banks have. Also, design the whole flow from start to finish. And make it responsive using Bootstrap.

My Role

- Design the branding of BiR! from scratch.

- Led the design of the whole experience in partnership with my Ops Dev to review constrains and define the easiest and more secure way to do the transaction.

- Once implemented, do user testings to improve everything that needed to be improved. Find new pain points and solutions.

The Problem

There is nothing like this. So I had to come with a brand new idea to make the experience exceptional.

The Solution

There is no need to create an account yet (and also that is an implementation constrain), so we needed a secure way to deliver the money to the user, so we came with the following flow:

Goals

1. Design an MVP in less than a week

We needed to know if people wanted the service and also to show it up in order to be able to iterate in case of needed.

2. Code the web layout based on Angular 2

The components and partials were created by my back end. The layout design was my task. Also we needed it to be fully responsive so we used Bootstrap to make the magic.

3. Set up tools to do user testings once on-line.

We are using Fullstory and Google Analytics to understand our users. The set up was done by my front end and me.

Competitive Analysis

1. Due to the lack of direct companies doing the same as us I needed to do research on lookalikes. The main tasks being: choosing money, sending money, receiving money and confirmations.

2. We intended to use a code sending app so the user could received their virtual card to be able to withdraw his cash (one time use). And I discovered the actual interface of the bank wasn't close to be funcional nor beautiful.

3. We were young, new and nobody knew anything about us. We are putting a lot of effort in our design to make the user feel secure about our idea and company. Many SCAMS related with bitcoin lack of any design taste and because of it, it is one of our best advantages.

Persona

We did some assumptions and after a few weeks we realized the Bitcoin owners profile is quite complex; from the kiddo with a few bucks (some of them underage) and even grandpas nearly their 60s.

But the definition is someone between it's mid 20s - mid 30s dude who has a constant income in Bitcoin, at least a monthly income.

Pain Points

Usually, a regular Bitcoin owner has to wait a long time (sometimes days) to turn their BTC into cash. Our service is solving it in a matter of minutes (from 2 to 10 minutes average).

Thinking the Solution

The least amount of clicks, screens and interactions were a basic need in our process.

The heavy BTC owners are used to have a "wallet" (it is like a bank account) from where they send and receive BTC from and to anyone. So we used this flow to make them feel related with us.
